|

Language represents the means by which
the knowledge of humanity is stored and categorized. While the knowledge of the

The total number of knowledge by language
category |
|
| |
It is impossible to accurately estimate
just how many concepts and objects are known by the human race. But based upon
generally accepted standards as number of words, it can be approximated that
around 1 million English words defined by the Oxford English Dictionary
describe close to 98% of what is known.

Structure of language making access to
knowledge difficult |
|
| |
While significant systems such as the
Oxford English Dictionary are able to define over 1 million words used in the
English language, their categorisaton according to knowledge categories is more
difficult. |
|
| |
Greek philosopher attempted to provide a
structure some 2300 years ago with what was known then. However the problem
remains just how to absorb such vasts ranges of human knowledge. |
