Viruses and bacteria are a fact of life with on average 1 in 5 (or at least 12 million) of all deaths globally caused from infectious diseases. Yet while the best scientists in the world work on cures for new and dangerous threats, more than half the deaths from infectious diseases around the world could be avoidable and preventable with better strategies of care and help to developing countries.

  • 1 in 5 die from infectous diseases each yr;
  • 1 in 6 die from cancers each yr;
  • 1 in 8 deaths due to lack of proper health resources;
  • 1918 flu pandemic killed 50m people (2% of infected);
  • 2009 H1N1 pandemic killed 285k people (0.02% of infected);
  • Seasonal flu kills approx 650k people (0.01% of infected);
  • COVID-19 pandemic has killed over 550k people (1% of infected).
